The Joseph Frost Collection
Joseph William Pepperrell Frost of Eliot, Maine passed away July 5, 2008 at the age of 85.Joe was well known for his historical activism on behalf of the State of Maine and the Piscataqua River region of Southern New Hampshire.He was very proud of his family’s heritage.He was a direct descendant of Lt. General Sir William Pepperrell, the celebrated victor of the battle of Louisburg in 1745.Joe even lived for many years in Pepperrell’s historic mansion in Kittery Point, Maine.Another Frost was a general on the staff of George Washington during the American Revolution.He was also the cousin and lifelong friend of the famed poet Robert Frost.His great grandfather was a founding member in 1845 of the New England Historic Genealogical Society.Joe was a serious collector of historical objects, most notably art and ephemera.Joe was also our friend for which we are grateful and we miss him and his passion for preserving and honoring America’s past.Many of our antique print reproductions come from Joe’s original prints which have been loaned to us by his daughter Liz.
