Description: Fine Art reproduction of an amazing original antique 1865 steel engraving of Abraham Lincoln. Buttre was a prolific engraver. He based this image on a photograph taken in Mathew Brady's studio for Francis B. Carpenter as a model for Carpenter's famous Emancipation Proclamation painting. Robert Todd Lincoln later in lie said that this photo was the best image of his father. It is also commonly believed that this photgraph was the model for the engraving on the five dollar bill. It is interesting to note that the date in the fine print below the image is 1864 by the title of the print includes "Assassinated April 14, 1865", leading to a possible conclusion that the print didn't go to market until after the death of President Lincoln.
