Description: This antique print of the great Bald Eagle is a first edition royal octavo taken directly from installment or Fascicle #3 with original unbound edge. The antique plate is in good condition with mild offsetting and age toning to the paper, which is normal for the age of the print. There is a small fox mark to the right of the head of the eagle and antoher in the left margin not affecting the print. Beautiful hand colored stone lithograph with bright true coloring, guaranteed original.
Of the Bald Eagle Audubon writes, "The great strength, daring, and cool courage of the White-headed Eagle, joined to his unequalled power of flight, render him highly conspicuous amoung his brethren."
Print is sold matted with antique colored archival matting and backing. Included with the antique print is the original text as available, a copy of Audubon's Preface and the Subscribers list from the related installment.
RedHouseCollection watermark is on the digital image only, not on the actual antique print.
