Description: This antique print of the Broad-winged Buzzard is a first edition royal octavo taken directly from installment or Fascicle #2 with original unbound edge. The antique plate is in good condition with age toning to the paper, which is normal for the age of the print. Beautiful hand colored stone lithograph with bright true coloring, guaranteed original. Of the Broad-winged Buzzard Audubon writes, "Its flight, which is easy and light, is performed in circles. When elevated in the air, it is fond of partially closing its wings for a moment, and thus gliding to a short distance, as if for amusement."
Print is sold matted with antique colored archival matting and backing. Included with the antique print is the original text as available, a copy of Audubon's Preface and the Subscribers list from the related installment.
