Description: Audubon's antique handcolored lithograph of the Common Cardinal Grosbeak, shown with male and female, on the branches of a Wild Almond Tree, wild almond prunus caroliniana. Of the Mallard Audubon said, "In richness of plumage, elegance of motion, and strength of song, this species surpasses all its kindred in the United States. It is known by the names of Red-bird, Virginia Nightingale, Cardinal-bird, and that at the head of the present article."
The antique print is in very good condition with age toning to the paper, which is normal for the age of the print. One small and light fox mark in the bottom margin not affecting titles or image. Beautiful hand colored stone lithograph with bright true coloring, guaranteed original.
