Description: Audubon's antique handcolored lithograph of the Common Mouse (Mus Musculus), shown with Male, Female and young, frolicking in the cheese and china. Of the Common Mouse Audubon wrote, " We have attempted to show a portion of a shelf in a pantry, on which stands a china jar, with its indigo-blue peaked mountains, its fantastic trees and its (take them altogether) rather remarkable landscapes, reminding us more of the sweetmeats it contains than of aught in the way of nature...."
The antique print is in very good condition with slight age toning to the paper, which is normal for the age of the print, bound edge is rough. Beautiful hand colored stone lithograph with bright true coloring, guaranteed original.
