Description: Reproduction Birdseye View map of the City of Boston from a northern perspective. John Bachman produced his first Boston Birdseye View in the 1840's and this is a later perspective map. Bachman is considered one of the foremost artist and lithographer of Birdseye View maps producing some of the first birdseye perspectives of America in New York in the early 1840's. This stunning view of Boston was originally printed in color. Birdseye maps record the evolution of cities illustrating the development and nature of economic activities, educational and religious facilities, parks, street patterns and widths, and transportation systems. Perspective maps are often not drawn to scale but provide a fascinating glimpse into the history of towns and cities.
