Description: These prints are from the Fables of Aesop collection made up of 100 engraved plates. The fables of Aesop, each of which has a strong moral, or application as it is called here, were very popular in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Countless editions were published for children. Such a sophisticated edition as this displays in the very best manner the beautiful etchings of a master of this art form. Beautifully drawn and etched, either in original engraved form or colored after publication. Prints shows minimal wear, with some age toning of the paper edges, some scattered fox marks in the margins and rough bound edges.
