Description: Sir William Jardine (1800-1874) compiled and published The Naturalist’s Library, 40 volumes of hand colored engravings and descriptions of all vertebrate species divided into 4 sections: mammals, birds, fish and insects. This antique print is from an early edition volume devoted to Whales, Porpoise and Dophins entitled The Natural History of the Ordinary Cetacea of Whales. This plate is in very good condition with deep coloring and normal age toning of paper. Print was bound tight and edge is slightly wrinkled, untrimmed and rough.
