Description: Sir William Jardine (1800-1874) compiled and published The Natuarlist’s Library, 40 volumes of hand colored illustration and description of all vertebrate species divided into 4 sections: mammals, birds, fish and insects. This print is from an early edition volume devoted to Parrots made up of 30 hand colored plates of different varieties. These antique bird prints were etched by William H. Lizars based on the art of Edward Lear. Plate 8 is in excellent condition with bright color and normal age toning of paper. Bound edge is untrimmed and rough.
